Let’s all just stop, take a deep breath, and feel it in your bodies.  Feel the exhale,  the release, the lightening sensation of hope.  The most fantastic thing we didn’t realize how much tension we were holding in our bodies until we breathed in hope. I will take this incredible emotion on any day of the week. It feels healthy. It must be healthy.

The most considerable risk in life is the discomfort of feeling a painful emotion.  If we can adjust our brains so that we are no longer avoiding the emotions of rejection, anxiety, disappointment, grief, if we can move through life unafraid, imagine how powerfully you can live.  Hypnotherapy gives the mishmash a voice; it soothes old hurts and, with the right coaching, gives your brain permission to fully engaged in life.

The problem in our contemporary lives is not anxiety.  The problem comes up when we feel shame or confused when we do have anxiety. We end up trying to push away that discomfort. Using meditation to push out or escape the emotion is a recipe for frustration.

Is COVID-19 the antidote or the last straw to physician burnout?

burnout is not due to the amount of work we do.  It is not due to working 12 hours or 24 hours in a row, but burnout is caused by the energy that fuels our work.  This is so true!   Part of the reason the doctor community is waking up jumping in is that before the pandemic, the burned-out doctor’s energy was fueled by just the need to pay the bills, and out of the hamster wheel, we just found ourselves on, vs now, during the pandemic, our energy being fueled by some communal calling to be a part of the global solution and some sense of purpose.
